Adoption

The first step to adopting one of our dogs, is to come in and tell us of your interest. We will then get you to fill out one of our Foster/Adoption Rules forms and a Dog Adoption Application (see below). Once the adoption forms have been approved by the manager you are then able to foster one of our dogs for a few days to see if you all get on.

If you don't all get on - bring the dog back and better luck next time. If you do all get on... great! You can then adopt the dog.

You will need to get your new dog registered with the council on your way in to adopt it, so we can take those details from you. We ask you to bring the dog in with you so we can take our collars and tags off them, and of course we always want to say goodbye!

At the time of adoption we will book your dog in for de-sexing if necessary, as it is our policy that all dogs adopted from us are de-sexed with no exception. This is included in the purchase price as is the first vaccination.

Your dog will also come to you fully up to date with its worm and flea treatments, and we can also have your dog microchipped if necessary at the same time. Which dogs have to be microchipped? All puppies over the age of three months, and any dog that is being registered for the first time.

DOWNLOAD FORMS:

We always have cats at the Centre that are looking for a good home, especially in kitten season! To adopt one of our cats you will need to come in and have a good look at what we have. Once you have decided on a cat, or in most cases the cat has decided on you, we can do the adoption there and then.

As with dogs it is our policy that all cats being adopted from us must without exception be de-sexed. If it is de-sexed already you can take the cat home with you the same day. If it needs to be done we usually book it in straight away and you can pick it up from the vets when its been done. De-sexing is included in the purchase price as is the first vaccination. Your cat will also come to you fully up to date with its worm and flea treatment.

You will need to know that you cannot let your cat out of your house for at least 10 days. We cannot make this point strongly enough. If you let it out before 10 days you run a very high risk of losing it, and many have.

We have a wide range of toys, litter trays, cat scratching posts, and food, etc in our shop for your new pet and it’s a great way to support the Centre.

Small Animal Adoption

We quite often have small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and chickens looking for good homes, even the odd turtle! To adopt one from us you will need to have a good pen for them at home or we sell them in our shop. We don’t de-sex small animals but they will come to you fit and healthy. (We wouldn’t sell an animal unless it was!)  Adoptions can be done there and then, all you will have to do is fill out an Animal Adoption Agreement form and pay the purchase price, and it’s as easy as that. We will also give you information you will need to know about feeding etc, and we have a selection of small animal food in our shop.

Large Animal Adoption
From time to time we have larger animals in the Centre that need good homes such as pigs and goats. To take one of these away you would need to have plenty of well fenced land for it to go in, a good shelter, and water on tap! We don’t sell our larger animals so they can become dinner! Pigs of all sizes can be great pets and wonderful garbage disposal systems. The right type of goat can be used for milking and if not they all have great characters will make an excellent addition to your small holding or farm.
